ATTORNEY-ADVISER (GENERAL) T32

Responsibilities
Serve as the full-time professional legal adviser and support to the Adjutant General and the Commander of federally recognized Army and Air National Guards
Support the Sexual Assault Response Coordinator and State Equal Employment Opportunity advisors in prevention efforts
Act as a professional legal adviser to the United States Property and Fiscal Officer (USPFO) and state/territory National Guard senior leadership
Assist in the formulation of state/territory legal policy pertaining to prevention of sexual assault, sexual harassment, and domestic abuse
Provide counsel on complex ethics issues and policies, ensuring compliance with Federal and state/territory administrative reporting requirements
Represent the state/territory National Guard as a trial attorney on all sexual assault, sexual harassment, and domestic violence cases
Qualification
Required
NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position
This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement
Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform
Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment
Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement
Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service
Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation
May be required to successfully complete a trial period
Participation in direct deposit is mandatory
Incumbent must possess and maintain a current state driver's license
May be required to work other than normal duty hours
Must be able to maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position
Work may require frequent travel away from the normal duty station on military and commercial aircraft
Recruitment, Relocation, or Retention Incentive may be offered and is subject to availability of funds
Individual selected will receive an Indefinite Appointment and may be converted to permanent based on availability of funds or position no longer being encumbered
Applicant must be an Arizona Bar Member and Lawyer

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: The first professional law degree (LL.B. or J.D.), active membership in the bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia and at least 2 years professional legal experience
