Assoc Project Manager I

The role of Assistant Project Manager involves supporting the execution of fiber optic construction projects by coordinating activities, tracking schedules and costs, and managing documentation.

Responsibilities
Support Project Managers in planning, executing, and closing out fiber optic OSP and ISP construction projects, including aerial and underground fiber installations
Coordinate day-to-day activities with field crews, subcontractors, inspectors, and utility locators to ensure safe and efficient fiber construction
Track project schedules and budgets; assist with monitoring progress, identifying risks, and supporting corrective actions as needed
Assist with preparation and management of project documentation, including work plans, permits, RFIs, change orders, as-builts, splice packages, and closeout documentation
Conduct site visits to verify fiber placement, conduit installation, handhole/vault placement, splicing activities, and restoration work
Support coordination with municipalities, permitting agencies, and utility owners for right-of-way access and construction approvals
Participate in internal and client-facing project meetings; document meeting minutes, action items, and status updates
Assist with invoice review, unit tracking, and preparation of billing documentation based on completed fiber construction quantities
Support quality control by reviewing test results (OTDR, power meter) and ensuring compliance with project specifications
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field preferred (or equivalent fiber industry experience)
0–4 years of experience in construction, with at least 1 year supporting fiber optic OSP/ISP projects preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with project management or construction tracking software (e.g., MS Project, Procore, Smartsheet) is a plus
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Willingness to work in both office and active construction environments; travel may be required
