Roadway Lighting Technician

Responsibilities

Install, maintain, and repair roadway and highway lighting systems, including streetlights, overhead lights, and control systems
Perform electrical terminations, connections, and wiring for lighting fixtures, poles, and control boxes
Troubleshoot lighting systems and perform diagnostics to identify faults or outages
Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and construction plans
Operate equipment such as bucket trucks, augers, trenchers, and hand tools safely and efficiently
Perform underground conduit installation and pole base setting
Replace bulbs, ballasts, fuses, contactors, and photocells as needed
Ensure work is compliant with NEC (National Electrical Code), DOT regulations, and company standards
Maintain accurate work records, service logs, and inspection reports
Conduct night inspections to identify non-functioning lights and perform repairs
Follow all safety procedures and participate in regular safety meetings and training
Communicate effectively with foremen, project managers, and other team members
Have basic knowledge and skills to setup appropriate traffic control for safe work zones

Required

Must pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening
Must have a positive and cooperative attitude and excellent attendance
Must be able to get along with fellow workers, other tradesmen on the jobsite, inspectors, customers, and the public
Must be able to carry up to 50 pounds
Must properly use safety equipment and personal protective equipment
Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of all types of hand tools
