City of Las Cruces is seeking a SCADA Systems Technician I to provide technical support for the SCADA system and HMI used in water, wastewater, and gas treatment plants. The role involves installing, programming, and maintaining SCADA hardware and software systems, as well as troubleshooting and ensuring proper functionality of these systems.

Responsibilities

Installs and programs SCADA hardware and peripheral components following design or installation specifications; assigns SCADA RTU positions in the communications hierarchy; configures hardware for the new position
Terminates wiring between SCADA input and output boards and the external devices; programs SCADA radio for the correct frequency; tests and aligns radio signal
Installs and programs SCADA radio frequencies, tests, and aligns radio signal for proper functionality on various radio models; loads new SCADA programs into the RTU; verifies program operations and functionality
Loads new SCADA programs into the RTU and verifies program operations and functionality; connects wiring between SCADA boards and the external devices
Installs, modifies, and makes major repairs to SCADA microcomputer hardware and software systems; troubleshoots SCADA RTU hardware and peripheral components
Installs SCADA hardware, peripheral components, and software, following design or installation specifications
Establishes plans for preventive maintenance and use of SCADA equipment; modifies or makes major repairs to SCADA microcomputer hardware and software systems
Maintains records and reports for LAN system for maintenance review and planning for future upgrades; monitors and reports LAN system problems to the Information Technology Division for resolution; assists clients with data reports using SQL server reporting services or access databases for any SCADA reporting needs
Inspects remote SCADA sites to identify, locate and correct any SCADA system issues and establishes a plan for preventive maintenance for any SCADA equipment

Required

Associate Degree in Computer Technology or related field
Two (2) years experience in hardware/software operations
Valid Class D driver's license
Acceptable driving record in accordance with City of Las Cruces policy

Previous experience in SCADA operations
Experience working with Human Machine Interfaces (HMI)
Experience working with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
Experience in Electronics/Instrumentation
Experience in Networking/Servers
Experience in Programmable Languages
