Research Technologist - Cheng Lab

As a Research Technologist, you will support experimental research in functional genomics and molecular biology within the Cleveland Clinic Genome Center, participating in daily research activities and maintaining laboratory operations.

Responsibilities
Participate in daily research project activities
Plan, organize, perform and monitor daily project protocols
Collect, prepare and maintain required research documentation, including informed consent records, case records, clinical notes and medical reports
Report and assist with managing protocol deviations, adverse events and other project-related issues
Be responsible for the general maintenance and upkeep of the lab
Order and purchase supplies, gather information on new equipment and recommend purchases
Assist with cell culture, including maintenance of iPSC-derived neurons, microglia, astrocytes, and/or brain organoids
Support experiments in functional genomics such as CRISPR/Cas9 or CRISPRi/a workflows, Basic molecular biology (PCR, cloning, DNA/RNA extraction) and Next-generation sequencing (NGS) library preparation
Perform sample processing, reagent preparation, buffer making, and general laboratory organization
Assist with FACS sample preparation, immunostaining, and microscopy as needed
Maintain detailed and accurate experimental records in lab notebooks and electronic databases
Follow standard operating procedures, safety guidelines, and quality control measures
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or GED and four years of experience in a research or related laboratory environment
OR Associate's degree in laboratory science and three years of experience
OR Bachelor's degree and two years of experience
OR Master's degree and one year of experience
Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment
Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information
Ability to distinguish color
Manual dexterity to handle specimens and repair equipment
Ability to lift and transport equipment or specimens weighing up to 20 pounds
May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, bio-hazards, radioactive materials, etc
Preferred
Bachelor's or Master's degree
Hands-on experience in cell culture, molecular biology techniques, sample preparation, and laboratory organization
Comfortable executing routine and semi-technical experiments independently
Strong time management, documentation skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced research environment
