Engineering Intern - Spring 2026

Genesee & Wyoming Inc. is seeking an Engineering Intern for Spring 2026 to support efforts in preparing engineering data for multiple upcoming projects. The intern will develop drawings and calculations for new railroad bridges and assist with various tasks related to public project agreements and invoicing.

Responsibilities

Perform calculations and develop drawings for new bridge projects
Update bridge and track standards by researching best practices and developing calculations to create consistent standards across the network
Collaborate with the Public Projects Manager to route agreements, research potential projects, and assist with billing/invoicing
Support the structural engineering team on various miscellaneous projects
Provide regular progress updates to the supervisor

Required

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a related major
Must have a valid drivers license

Preferred

Experience with MicroStation or AutoCAD
