Responsibilities
Analyze organizational data needs and translate them into scalable architectural solutions
Design and evolve cloud-native data architectures on Azure to support analytics, reporting, and operational workloads
Develop robust data models and curated layers (e.g., dimensional, semantic) for downstream reporting and application use
Ensure seamless integration across new and existing data systems
Work closely with data engineers and data scientists to optimize pipelines, ensure performance, and improve system reliability
Provide expert guidance on data storage, data extraction, and ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) processes
Monitor platform performance, proactively identifying and addressing issues
Establish and maintain data governance standards, policies, and best practices
Assess data quality, identify anomalies, and root out corrupt or unreliable data
Strengthen data security by defining architectural protocols, controls, and compliance standards
Produce clear and comprehensive documentation for data architectures, procedures, and standards
Stay current with evolving Azure data services and emerging architecture patterns
Perform additional duties as needed and travel or work onsite when required
Qualification
Required
High school diploma required
5+ years of experience as a Data Architect, Data Solutions Architect, Senior Data Engineer, or a similar role
Hands-on experience with Azure data services, including Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure SQL Database / SQL Managed Instance, Power BI (Tableau acceptable)
Strong understanding of database architecture and modeling (relational, dimensional)
Expertise in SQL, performance tuning, and query optimization
Familiarity with data governance, quality, integration, privacy, lineage, and cataloging (Purview experience a plus)
Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
Ability to drive architecture discussions and produce high-quality technical documentation
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Customer-service mindset and professionalism in handling stakeholder inquiries
Self-starter with a proactive, ownership-driven approach
Ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative team environment
Demonstrated discretion and reliability when handling sensitive or strategic information
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred
