Responsibilities
Performs routine construction engineering assignments at Los Alamos National Laboratory with full working knowledge of construction engineering practices
Exercises professional judgment within established guidelines and may have leadership responsibility for less experienced construction engineers
May specialize in a single field or area, or assume a lead role in specific segments of construction projects supporting critical installation phase operations
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related scientific discipline, OR 8 years of actual construction engineering work experience with relevant certifications
Full working knowledge of construction engineering practices and ability to exercise professional judgment
Experience working in large industrial, utility, process plant, or engineering/construction environments
Demonstrated leadership capability and mentoring experience with less experienced engineers
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in complex construction situations
Ability to obtain and maintain Q-level security clearance
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and MS Teams
Preferred
DoE (Department of Energy) or DoD (Department of Defense) experience preferred
Navy nuclear, pharmaceutical, oil/gas, or commercial building construction experience
Extensive electrical background highly desired
Glovebox systems experience (significant plus)
Manufacturing facility experience
NQA1 (Nuclear Quality Assurance) experience
Construction experience with facility-based mechanical systems
Field engineer certifications (pressure testing or related)
Active Q-level security clearance
Regulatory environment experience
Post-graduate coursework in engineering disciplines
Team-oriented mindset with 'humble, hungry, and smart' approach
Flexibility regarding work schedules including shift work availability
Proven ability to lead project segments and mentor engineering staff
