Responsibilities
Oversee the organization's payroll accounting to ensure accurate and timely processing of journals and accounting reconciliations
Ensure accurate and timely payment for tax and garnishment payments and required state and federal filings
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax laws, as well as internal policies
Ensure appropriate controls are in place to reduce improper payments
Lead payroll audits and reconcile discrepancies, ensuring accuracy in all payroll-related numbers and reports
Maintain and improve payroll systems and ensure seamless integration with other HR and accounting tools
Collaborate and contribute to any related system implementations or process improvements
Oversee payroll tax filings, including W-2s, 1099s, and other year-end reporting
Stay up-to-date with changes in payroll laws, regulations, and best practices to maintain compliance and improve processes
Work with leadership to provide needed information for business decisions
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in relevant field plus at least ten years of experience (YOE), OR Master's degree in relevant field plus at least eight years of experience (YOE), OR Doctoral degree in relevant field plus at least five years of experience (YOE)
Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered
Preferred
Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
