Recreation Leader II
NEOGOV is seeking experienced recreation professionals to join the Town of Queen Creek's Parks & Recreation team as Recreation Leader II. This role involves leading staff and overseeing the planning, coordination, and delivery of senior-focused recreational programs and services, including managing volunteers and coordinating events.

Responsibilities
Interacts in a helpful, positive way with the public; provides accurate information and responds effectively to public inquiries about recreation programs and the application of park and games rules; provides prompt and courteous customer accepts payment of fees in the front desk area that includes handling of cash; assists customers with recreation program registrations in-person or over the telephone; and completes all necessary record keeping, reporting and documentation
Oversees a wide variety of sports and recreation activities held simultaneously at single and multiple park or school sites
Coordinates the work of scorekeepers, umpires, officials, and referees; serves as scorekeeper or other sports official as needed
Prepares fields/sites for games, meetings, classes or events, including, but not limited to: youth and teen and adult sports activities, coaches clinics, manager meetings, youth commission events, etc
Maintains safe, secure recreational environments for employees, volunteers and participants
Enforces game, program and facility rules at Town facilities and grounds
Opens, inspects and closes Town facilities, including Town Hall, Community Center, Recreation Center, Aquatics Center, community parks, , tennis courts, pickle ball courts and sports fields
Set up and take down for events related to youth and adult sports, youth and teen center, special events, special interest classes and senior programs and activities
Ensures the safekeeping and monitoring of all equipment necessary for the program; transports equipment and supplies to and from sites
Maintains records on the issuance, use and care of all equipment and supplies related to the programs and games
Performs routine maintenance of Town facilities and equipment; sweeps, mops, dusts and sanitizes facilities, rooms, and equipment including floors, kitchens, concession stands, drinking fountains, restrooms and eating areas; ensures that litter is collected and disposed of and that supplies are stocked
Assists the Recreation Technicians and Coordinators with the planning, coordination, and supervision of recreation programs, camps, after-school programs and events
Occasionally acts in a leadership role over an assigned program in the absence of the Recreation Technician or Coordinator
Communicates feedback between participants and program supervisors
Prepares documents such as letters, program evaluation forms, memos, accident reports and rosters
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level
Qualification
Required
Must be at least 16 years of age or older
A minimum of two (2) seasons as a Recreation Leader I or one (1) year of experience in sports, recreation or youth activities; or, an equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above
First Aid; completed within 30 days of hire date
CPR/AED; completed within 30 days of hire date
Knowledge of recreation sports programs, youth activities and rule interpretation
Knowledge of planning, organizing and problem solving
Knowledge of equipment and supplies used in youth and adult sports, games and activities
Knowledge of first aid methods and necessary safety precautions used in recreation programming
Skills in providing courteous and efficient service to the public and in responding to inquiries, complaints and requests in a fair, tactful and firm manner
Skills in supervising multiple games and activities simultaneously
Skills in both verbal and written communication
Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
Skills in operating basic computer programs
Ability to write reports and fill out forms
Ability to use critical thinking and judgement while assessing situations
Communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and other interested parties sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction
Benefits
Part-time employees will accrue 1 hour of paid sick time per 30 hours of work.
Part-time employees working under 20 hours/week are not eligible for ASRS pension plan.
