Network Engineer Principal

Responsibilities

Coordinate with Government Points of Contact (POCs) to coordinate base access, clearance, escorts, personnel and equipment to ensure project tasks can be completed on time
Assist the PM with ensuring clear, consistent, timely and accurate communications are maintained with internal and external project stakeholders
Provide input into the network design and technical recommendations to the program and operation teams
Lead small implementation teams or manage specific work scopes for a given AF/SF base
Provides technical, administrative, and operational management of assigned projects
Develops technical project plans, proposals, reports, and task order and administrative reporting
Perform detailed technical services on assigned tasks
Conducts planning and provides recommendations on task workload
Provides input into risk tracking process
Attends customer meetings and serves as primary network engineering liaison
Interacts with vendors, other agencies, and other client staff
Coordinates development of deliverables and products
Ensures quality assurance of project deliverables
Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned
Participates in special projects as required
Reviews project requirements and develop strategies for future work

Required

8 + years of related experience
US Citizenship Required: Yes
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institute in an area applicable to this position. Equivalent years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree
8+ years' experience in various aspects of IT upgrade projects in the DoW environment
Familiarity with network design documents such as – Site Survey Reports, Preliminary and Critical Design documentation, As-built diagrams, rack elevations and circuit connectivity matrices
Thorough understanding of Wired and general IT functions
Ability to work effectively in a virtual teaming environment
Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, documents and governmental regulations
Strong commitment to a team environment and the ability to work collaboratively
Strong coordination and organizational skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Active DoD Secret Level Clearance or ability to attain and hold

Preferred

Understanding of Software Defined Networking
Experience with Network Access Control
Experience using MS Visio or related CAD tools
