Oracle Cloud Engineer, Senior
iVision Consulting is seeking a skilled and motivated Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Cloud Engineer to join their dynamic team. This role is crucial for the operations and maintenance of the OCI environment, ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing cloud infrastructure, monitoring performance, and ensuring compliance with security policies.
Responsibilities
Implement and manage full-stack cloud infrastructure, including OCI Compute, Block/Object Storage, and advanced Networking
Drive operational efficiency by automating cloud provisioning and configuration using Terraform, Ansible, and OCI Resource Manager
Monitor and optimize database performance utilizing Oracle Autonomous Database and Oracle Data Guard, implementing indexing, partitioning, and query optimization
Regularly monitor the health of all OCI resources; establish automated health checks and pre-developed incident response plans
Use OCI Monitoring to analyze performance metrics and set up proactive alerts for anomalies or threshold breaches
Tune resource configurations, implement load balancing, and design auto-scaling policies to ensure optimal service delivery
Monitor utilization patterns to ensure sufficient capacity and plan for elastic scaling based on workload demand
Manage user permissions via OCI IAM, enforcing the Principle of Least Privilege (PoLP) through regular policy reviews
Utilize OCI Cloud Guard to detect and remediate security threats; enable and monitor audit logs to ensure strict compliance with security policies
Secure data at rest and in transit using OCI Vault; manage encryption keys and certificates while overseeing regular vulnerability scans
Optimize network configurations, including VCNs, subnets, and gateways, to ensure secure and low-latency connectivity
Manage regular maintenance windows and apply critical patches/updates to maintain system stability and minimize downtime
Collaborate with Cloud Architects to design resilient, scalable solutions that meet evolving mission requirements
Optimize cloud spending by monitoring usage and implementing cost-saving strategies (e.g., rightsizing, reserved instances)
Stay current with the OCI roadmap, new features, and industry best practices to maintain a competitive edge
Qualification
Required
Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Proven experience as a Cloud Engineer, with deep knowledge of OCI services (Compute, Storage, Networking, IAM)
Proficiency in cloud automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and OCI Resource Manager
Experience with Oracle Autonomous Database and Data Guard
Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Monitoring, Prometheus)
Knowledge of cloud security best practices and tools (e.g., Oracle Identity and Access Management, Cloud Guard)
Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
Familiarity with Cloud Guard, OCI Vault, and compliance auditing
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure
Strong communication and collaboration skills
OCI certifications (e.g., Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Foundations, Architect, Operations) are a plus
Preferred
Experience with other cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
Experience with DevOps practices and tools
Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
