Responsibilities
The Systems Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, supporting, and enhancing infrastructure and application environments
Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, middleware, and system management tools
Ensure high availability and reliability of production and non-production environments
Perform server and OS patching
WebLogic patching and middleware maintenance
AWS maintenance (AMIs and general upgrades)
Certificate renewal, testing, and management (SSL, SSO, SAML)
Internal service account maintenance and ID expiration handling
Support incident response and on-call production support
Support disaster recovery planning and execution
Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
Support vulnerability remediation identified by tools such as Nexpose and penetration testing
Perform security administration for SSO / SAML / SSL certificates
Incorporate security best practices into daily responsibilities
Monitor system and application performance
Identify performance bottlenecks and implement fixes
Maintain application performance monitoring using Dynatrace and Splunk
Perform server performance tuning and stability improvements
Write and maintain scripts to automate tasks and reduce manual effort
Support configuration changes, instance creation, repurposing, and modifications
Participate in the design of operational support systems
Work closely with platform teams across: AIX, iSeries (System i), Networking, Linux / Unix, Application performance teams
Qualification
Required
5+ years of combined software and infrastructure engineering experience
Experience with IBM System i (iSeries)
Exposure to Jenkins or other CI/CD tools
Strong security mindset (security-first approach to daily work)
Infrastructure operations and support
Certificate renewal and testing
Incident response & on-call support
Server and OS patching
WebLogic patching
AWS maintenance (AMIs, upgrades)
Vulnerability management (Nexpose)
Monitoring & alerting
Disaster recovery support
Non-production environment support
Internal service account maintenance
Preferred
Experience with ESB technologies
Exposure to Unix & Linux environments
Database experience (System i, Oracle, MariaDB)
Mule development and support
AWS experience
Hands-on experience with Splunk
Experience working in Agile environments (JIRA)
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science / Information Systems or related field
