Program Assistant I

The State of South Dakota is seeking a motivated self-starter for the role of Program Assistant I within the Department of Labor & Regulation - Electrical Commission. This position is responsible for licensing and permitting tasks, as well as assisting with other boards and commissions as needed, while providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Responsible for many important tasks within the Electrical Commission including licensing and permitting as well as other tasks correlating to those processes
Assisting with other boards and commission as needed

Required

Excellent customer service and business English skills including grammar, spelling, and punctuation
Ability to work with modern office equipment, practices, and procedures
Ability to prioritize tasks to make sure work is completed on time and accurately with an emphasis on attention to detail
Knowledge of licensing best practices
Knowledge of technology and how to apply standard process to new technology
Knowledge of public relations and customer service
Skill to type accurately in correspondence
Skill to proofread and edit rough copy for grammar, spelling, syntax, and style
Skill to organize and coordinate activities
Skill to research and compile data
Skill to screen documents against set requirements, comparing them with established references, and verifying their accuracy and completeness
Ability to communicate in a concise and effective manner
Ability to read and comprehend written materials
Ability to accurately record, file, and transmit information
Ability to accomplish assigned professional tasks
Ability to exercise tact, patience, and discretion in communicating and dealing with persons of varying backgrounds and temperaments
Ability to screen calls, taking messages, greet clients, refer people
Ability to sort and file documents
