Lead Field Service Controls Engineer
Innovate is launching its US division and is seeking a Lead Field Service Controls Engineer to play a key role in building the business from the ground up. This hands-on, customer-facing role involves acting as the technical SME for controls engineering, supporting installation and troubleshooting while mentoring junior engineers and establishing standards in the US market.
Responsibilities
Lead on-site commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and production support activities
Serve as the technical authority for PLC, HMI, robotics, and SCADA-related issues
Support migration and implementation projects across customer sites
Perform I/O checkout, system debugging, optimization, and production handover
Work closely with sales teams and customers to define technical requirements and deliver solutions
Mentor and support junior engineers as the US team grows
Lead root cause analysis and implement long-term corrective actions
Act as the primary technical interface with customers during service and commissioning
Travel extensively to customer sites, often for extended periods during project execution
Qualification
Required
Strong PLC experience with Siemens and Rockwell
Hands-on experience with remote I/O systems, not just control panels
Robotics experience required
Experience with Ignition SCADA and/or warehouse automation environments
Strong understanding of industrial networking (Profinet, EtherNet/IP, safety networks)
A true technical SME, not a software-only engineer
Strong communication skills and confidence working directly with customers
Background in small to mid-sized companies or startup-style environments
Comfortable with ambiguity, ownership, and helping build something from scratch
