Principal Engineer, GDC Storage, Google Cloud
Google is creating the industry’s leading private and hybrid cloud offering with Google Distributed Cloud (GDC). In this role, you will be responsible for execution for GDC Storage and Data Protection, influencing a team of software engineers and collaborating with Product Management to define the storage roadmap for various markets.

Responsibilities
Collaborate with peer tech leads in Google Distributed Cloud Edge Delivery (GDCE) to develop a strategic roadmap to remediate all reliability findings
Collaborate with a global team of Engineering and Product Managers to execute making appropriate tradeoffs between architecture, time-to-market, and business goals
Drive systems and tools, and infrastructure strategic roadmap and development to improve the ability to scale GDC Storage
Lead the overall Storage end-to-end technical strategy for GDC
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, similar field, or equivalent practical experience
15 years of experience in cloud computing (e.g., enterprise applications, infrastructure, storage, platforms and data)
10 years of experience building enterprise storage systems
Experience with private and public cloud design considerations in the areas of developer and operator productivity, virtualization, containers, high performance computing, data, security and config/policy automation
Experience providing technical guidance and working with teams to deliver services for internal and external stakeholders
Preferred
Master's degree or PhD in in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
Experience in designing and implementing large-scale filesystems or distributed storage systems
Experience leading product development of 2nd generation cloud products at scale
Experience with any of the following IaaS solutions: Kubernetes, system virtualization, on-premise or hybrid cloud computing, cloud identity and security system, cloud monitoring and logging, or local and cloud storage
Technical expertise in systems and software with the leadership skills needed to influence technical leaders across the company
