The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is dedicated to enriching the environment and protecting public health for New Yorkers. They are seeking a Laboratory Services Intern to support their operations by performing analytical testing, data entry, and assisting with quality assurance tasks in their laboratories.

Environmental Services

Responsibilities

Lab Work - With training, an intern could perform some portions of laboratory processing
Data entry / data review
Sampling - container preparation
Sample - reception tasks
Assistance with quality-assurance tasks
Research - Always looking to keep current, so the intern could assist with researching literature
Develop a final presentation to display assignments they have been involved with while working as an intern at the DEP Interns Closing Ceremony

Required

As of June of the Program year the prospective intern must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year)
Student must have at least a 2.5GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
Student must have at least a junior class standing

Preferred

Student must currently be enrolled at a college/university at the undergraduate level majoring in chemistry, biology, environmental sciences or a related field
Strong writing skills
Effective interpersonal skills
Familiarity and/or experience with computers/software
Leadership skills
Self-motivation and ability to work well with minimal supervision
