2026-BWSO-010-Tunnels and Facilities Intern
The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers. They are seeking a summer intern to work within the Water and Sewer Operations Capital Program on the Tunnels and Facilities Team, assisting engineers with various engineering design projects and gaining hands-on experience in civil/environmental engineering and water infrastructure development.

Responsibilities
Work closely with Engineer in Charge on trunk water main projects for development
Assist engineers with various engineering design projects
Contribute to data search for pilot projects
Develop a final presentation to display assignments involved while working as an intern
Qualification
Required
As of June of the Program year the prospective intern must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year)
Preferred
Student must be currently enrolled at a college/university at the undergraduate level majoring in civil, environmental, chemical, or mechanical engineering
Student must have at least a 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
Student must have at least a junior class standing
Familiar with AutoCAD or GIS Software
Access to a computer and internet at home capable of remotely connecting to DEP resources
