NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers. The selected intern will serve as a water system analyst in the Community Water Division, focusing on engineering project management and data analysis related to water supply operations.
Environmental Services
Responsibilities
Assist with developing dashboard displays of near real time information
Research water information portals and provide a literature review and report, stressing any significant problems along with proposed resolutions
Adhere to and comply with all environmental, health and safety laws, Agency policies, rules, and regulations
Develop a final presentation to display assignments they have been involved with while working as an intern at the DEP Interns Closing Ceremony
Qualification
Required
As of June of the Program year the prospective intern must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year)
Appointment to this title is only valid for the duration of the Program, June - August each year
Preferred
Student must be enrolled in a science or engineering program and prepared for tasks involving data processing and presentation
Familiarity with data acquisition and data management systems is desired
Student must have at least a 2.5GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
Strong writing skills
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Familiarity or experience with MS Office suite including spreadsheets, and databases
Leadership skills including self motivation and ability to work well independently and with others, with minimal supervision and a willingness to learn
