The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is dedicated to enriching the environment and protecting public health for New Yorkers. They are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to assist engineers in field investigations, research engineering solutions, and prepare design drawings and reports.

Responsibilities
Assist engineers in field investigations at different wastewater facilities
Work with engineers in researching engineering solutions, developing plans, and preparing specifications for contract work
Assist engineers in the preparation of design drawings, field-inspection reports, cost estimates, and electronic copies of existing drawings and documents
Help oversee construction projects to determine whether the work complies with contract specifications and to monitor progress against established timelines
Develop a final presentation to display assignments they have been involved with while working as an intern at the DEP Interns Closing Ceremony
Qualification
Required
As of June of the Program year the prospective intern must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year)
Preferred
Student must currently be enrolled at a college/university at the undergraduate level majoring in Mechanical Engineering
Student must have at least a 2.5GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
Student must have at least a junior class standing
Strong writing skills
Effective interpersonal skills
Familiarity and/or experience with computers/software
Leadership skills
Self-motivation and ability to work well with minimal supervision
