NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers. The Engineering & Construction Intern will assist in the implementation of project initiation through preliminary design for various capital projects while gaining valuable experience in advancing project designs.

Responsibilities
Assist in the implementation of project initiation through preliminary design for DEP’s capital program of projects such as dams, bridges, roads, aqueducts, tunnels and water operation facilities
Participate in field inspections and collect data to help develop project design
Assist in entering data into various databases
Develop a final presentation to display assignments they have been involved with while working as an intern at the DEP Interns Closing Ceremony
Adhere to and comply with all environmental, health and safety laws, Agency policies, rules, and regulations
Qualification
Required
As of June of the Program year the prospective intern must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year)
Candidate will be responsible for adhering to and complying with all environmental, health and safety laws, Agency policies, rules, and regulations
Preferred
Map/Survey/Blueprint reading
Familiarity with construction sites
Strong writing skills effective interpersonal skills
Familiarity with MS office suite
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Leadership skills including self motivation and ability to work well independently and with others, with minimal supervision and a willingness to learn
