The Maryland Department of Transportation is seeking a Traffic Engineer (Transportation Engineer III) to assist in the preparation of highway construction projects. This role involves responding to traffic-related concerns and coordinating with various agencies throughout the project development process.

Responsibilities

Assist the Team Leader and the Assistant District Engineer of Traffic in the preparation of highway construction projects for advertisement

Respond to citizens for traffic related concerns including but not limited to signs, pavement markings, flex posts, speed, sidewalk, crosswalk, streetlights, traffic signals, and various operational issues

Assist in project development for the following programs: Major Projects- Fund 70, Fund 71, Fund 72; Safety and Resurfacing- Fund 77; Safety and Spot Improvement- Fund 76; Intersection Capacity Improvement- Fund 87; Crash Prevention Improvement- Fund 30; Urban Reconstruction- Fund 84; Retrofit Sidewalk Program- Fund 79; Bicycle Retrofit Improvement- Fund 88; District Engineer’s Quick Action; Drainage, Environmental Impact; Structures; Candidate Safety Improvement Location (CSIL); Wet Pavement/High Friction Surface Treatment; Retrofit Sidewalk Program- Fund 79; Bicycle Retrofit Improvement Fund 88; District Engineer’s Quick Action; Drainage, Environmental Impact

Qualification

Bachelor's degree in engineeringTraffic engineering experienceProfessional engineering experienceProfessional Engineer registrationCommunication skillsTeam collaboration

Required

Possession of a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university

Two (2) years of experience in professional engineering

One (1) year of the required experience must have involved traffic engineering

Candidate must possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the state of Maryland
