Directs day-to-day laboratory operations while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and best practices
Works with, adapts, and installs scientific equipment in research laboratories
Develops moderately complex projects and procedures independently
Manages inventory and equipment and performs budget functions
Collaborates to write grant applications and manuscripts
Oversees inventory of laboratory supplies, reagents, and equipment
Coordinates the shipping, storage, and inventory of human biological samples
Provides research and technical support, which may include vertebrate animal research
Supervises and trains laboratory personnel
Collaborates on manuscript and grant preparation
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree
5 years of experience
Must be able to read and comprehend the English language
Normal visual ability with no hearing impairments
Adequate manual dexterity to perform sensitive laboratory procedures including work within a BSL2 environment
Strong communication skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a cooperative team
Strict adherence to BSL2 procedures
Experience in overseeing inventory of laboratory supplies, reagents, and equipment
Experience in coordinating the shipping, storage, and inventory of human biological samples
Experience in providing research and technical support, which may include vertebrate animal research
Experience in supervising and training laboratory personnel
Experience in collaborating on manuscript and grant preparation
Highly organized
Comfortable balancing laboratory operations with scientific execution
Eager to help establish and manage a new laboratory while developing complex projects and procedures
