RPG Programmer
Programmers.io is seeking an RPG Programmer to develop, enhance, and maintain applications using RPG III, RPG IV, and RPGLE. Responsibilities
Develop, enhance, and maintain applications using RPG III / RPG IV / RPGLE / Free-Format RPG
Support and modernize legacy AS/400 applications
Write and optimize DB2/400 SQL queries, stored procedures, and programs
Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
Perform debugging, testing, and performance tuning
Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and modernization initiatives
Maintain technical documentation and follow coding standards
Collaborate with business users, analysts, and IT teams
Qualification
Required
3+ years of experience as an RPG Programmer on AS/400 / IBM i
Strong hands-on experience with RPGLE / Free-Format RPG
Experience with CL/CLLE
Solid knowledge of DB2/400, embedded SQL
Experience working with legacy systems and enhancements
Familiarity with job scheduling, batch jobs, and system operations
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Preferred
Experience with IBM i modernization tools
Knowledge of Web services, APIs, or ILE concepts
Exposure to Java, .NET, or UI modernization tools
Experience with ERP systems (JD Edwards, MAPICS, Infor, etc.)
Prior experience in manufacturing, finance, or supply chain domains
