Mid LevelThe Nowak Group is seeking a Protection & Controls Relay Technician to conduct commissioning, testing, maintenance and repair of complex protective relaying schemes and associated systems in substation environments. The role involves performing installation, testing, and maintenance of protective relaying equipment and communicating technical information effectively to customers and management.

Responsibilities
Testing of Electro-mechanical, Numerical and Microprocessor based Protective Relays and control devices
Perform installation, commissioning, testing and maintenance of protective relaying equipment, relaying schemes, DFR equipment, SCADA systems, distribution automation systems and associated communication equipment
Test over current/voltage, Directional, Distance, Impedance, Sync Check, Loss of field, reverse power, Multifunction relays etc
Perform function testing of substation control circuits on relay panel, transformers & circuit breaker change outs
Conduct differential and distance relay testing
Assist in developing written standard commissioning, testing and maintenance procedures for protective relaying, DFR's, RTU's, IED's, Distribution Automation and associated communication systems
Interpreting customer and sales submitted technical documents, quotations, and service requests and applying that data directly to the quoted task at hand
Communicating technical information clearly and concisely to management and customers
Travel to job locations, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and properly applying pertinent technical and safety standards to the assigned work. i.e. (IEEE, NETA, NEMA, NEC)
Creating test reports and summaries of work completed
Assist in training service technicians in basic protective relay and control systems
Must be willing and able to travel on overnight, multi-day, out of town jobs
Must be willing and able to work regular overtime including nights, weekends and some holidays

Required

Testing of Electro-mechanical, Numerical and Microprocessor based Protective Relays and control devices
Perform installation, commissioning, testing and maintenance of protective relaying equipment, relaying schemes, DFR equipment, SCADA systems, distribution automation systems and associated communication equipment
