Budget Analyst I

The City of Boynton Beach is seeking a Budget Analyst I to perform responsible professional work in accounting, financial analysis, and budget development. The role involves supporting the preparation and monitoring of the City’s annual operating budget and Capital Improvement Plan, assisting departments with budget submissions, and analyzing financial data.

Responsibilities

Assist in preparing and administering the City’s annual operating budget and Capital Improvement Plan Budget
Support the preparation of the City’s 5-Year Capital Improvements Program document
Coordinate the development, layout, and publication of the City’s proposed and adopted budget books
Maintain and update the City’s budget forecasting model, including revenue and expenditure projections
Review departmental budget requests for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to procedures and regulations
Monitor revenue and expenditure performance and report on variances or discrepancies
Assist in Truth in Millage (TRIM) compliance procedures
Assist in developing long-range revenue and expenditure forecasts
Compile special reports, summaries, and analyses affecting various segments of the budget
Conduct surveys of surrounding municipalities and taxing authorities regarding millage rates, utility taxes, fees, and other financial indicators
Prepare clear, well-organized written, oral, and graphic presentations
Prepare, examine, maintain, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and financial reports for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with reporting standards
Participate in month-end closing processes and support the annual external audit
Assist other financial areas as needed, including general accounting, financial reporting, and revenue/expenditure analysis
Analyze financial data submitted by departments to ensure accuracy and compliance with budgeting procedures
Prepare fiscal impact statements for ordinances and resolutions presented to Commission Officers

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
One (1) or more years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, budgeting, or finance; government experience preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook required
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license

Preferred

Master's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, finance accounting, or closely related field
Experience With Workday (or Any Other ERP)
