Internship Opportunity: Process Improvement and Change Management

Responsibilities

Assisting with innovation and improvement throughout CDOT:
Engage with fellow CDOTers by documenting and sharing their ideas and innovations
Maintain our robust database of innovations through data collection, data entry and cleaning
Assessing the effectiveness and efficiency of processes (including the use of continuous improvement practices and change management methodologies)
Develop, manage and execute projects that improve the effectiveness and efficiency of processes as well as integrate change management with project plans
Develop, design and produce graphics and videos to support CDOT Office of Process Improvement (OPI) initiatives (i.e. creating promotional materials such as posters, videos, and web content)
Make sure all electronic documents and designs follow best practices for accessibility
Supporting project and change management initiatives through Concept to Project (C2P):
Preparing and producing change management courses and supporting the course facilitators
Maintaining project and change management tools and resources such as documents, spreadsheets and videos/web content
Work to mature CDOT’s C2P Program by assisting with projects that are aimed at improving processes associated with C2P
Aiding the development of strategic plans within CDOT:
Developing recommendations for improving operations
Documenting goals, metrics and initiatives
Able to create and produce communications on own initiative, demonstrating the ability to communicate well verbally and in writing on a variety of platforms and settings
Develop personal organization and tracking methods such as internal spreadsheets; setting up the routine for tracking information, and deciding which software format is most effective to produce the required results
Plan events associated with innovation and improvement initiatives, and being responsible for logistics, equipment, menus/caterers, and presenters
Performing other duties as assigned to assist with accomplishment of initiatives to support CDOT's goals and CDOT's Excellence Value
Occasional car travel within the Denver metro region and to other areas throughout the state

Required

Any college student enrolled in an accredited community college, college or university seeking an Associates, Bachelors, Masters or Ph.D. degree
A recent college graduate. Recently graduated means the individual should have attended an accredited college or university and have graduated with an Associates, Bachelors, Masters or Ph.D. degree within three calendar years
A certified participant in the Colorado Refugee Services Program
If you are using education to qualify, a legible copy of your official or unofficial college transcript(s) or a foreign credential evaluation report must be submitted with your application. Transcripts must show the name of the school and that a degree was conferred. Transcripts from colleges or universities outside of the United States must be assessed for U.S. equivalency by a NACES educational credential evaluation service
Must pass a pre-employment screening which may include social security number trace, criminal records check, public court records check, educational records, and driving records checks

Preferred

Strong interest in the duties listed in the Description of the Job section
Experience in process improvement-related or change management-related curriculum or a related discipline, such as organizational development, industrial psychology, organizational psychology, work psychology, management science, human resources management, systems engineering quality assurance; industrial engineering; human factors engineering; strategy management; business management etc
Knowledge and experience with continuous improvement technologies and change management / change leadership theory, technology and practices
Knowledge and experience with documenting processes and operations
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to take initiative and perform duties with minimal supervision in both remote and in-person workplaces
Familiarity with the Google suite, Google mail ('Gmail') and related Google applications; experience with Zoom, Canva, PowerBI and LucidChart knowledge are pluses. Experience with development of graphs and charts using the Microsoft Office and Google suites
Good basic understanding of fundamental graphic design principles
