Responsibilities

Serve as a Firefighter Driver/Operator/Hazardous Materials Technician/Basic Life Support
Assigned to a crew engaged in structural firefighting, rescue, Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) incident response functions
Drives and operates firefighting/rescue vehicles, participates in rescue operations to include confined space, high-angle, and other special operations
Performs noninvasive emergency medical procedures to provide Basic Life Support (BLS)

Required

U.S. Citizenship
One year of specialized experience which includes performing firefighting functions and performing regular maintenance and minor repairs on fire equipment
Four years of education above the high school level in an accredited college or university in Fire Science, Fire Training, or other related fields of study
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%
One year of specialized experience which includes controlling or extinguishing fires performing rescue operations, detecting reducing, and/or eliminating potential fire hazards, performing fire prevention inspection and training, and controlling hazardous materials incidents
One year of specialized experience which includes controlling or extinguishing fires performing rescue operations, detecting, reducing, and/or eliminating potential fire hazards, performing fire prevention inspection duties, and assessing a patient's conditions to administer basic treatment
Firefighter I certification through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board)
Firefighter II certification through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board)
Hazmat- Awareness certification through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board)
Hazmat - Operations certification through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board)
Valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles
Mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination
Successful completion of an annual Job Performance Test
Conform to the requirements set-forth in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1500, Fire Department Occupational Health and Safety Program
Participation in a cardiovascular physical fitness program
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties
Completion of pre-employment and periodic subsequent medical examination in accordance with DoDM 6055.06
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation
Shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations
Work both planned and unscheduled overtime
