Cleared Member/Senior R&D Engineering Support Technologist for B61 Stockpile Weapon System, Onsite
Sandia National Laboratories is the nation’s premier science and engineering lab for national security and technology innovation, and they are seeking a highly motivated Engineering Support Technologist to join their team. The role involves supporting high-visibility engineering and science activities for the B61 stockpile weapon system, including managing hardware inventory and collaborating closely with a dedicated team to deliver quality products in support of the B61 mission.

Responsibilities
Manage the B61 hardware inventory using the ARAS system
Oversee multiple B61 storage bunkers, including efforts to reduce B61 explosive inventory
Build, manage, configure, and oversee development builds for B61 Joint Test Assemblies (JTAs) and contribute to prototype and development hardware builds for ongoing B61 projects
Organize and supervise B61 lab space, including consolidating and configuring bay hardware, layout, and tools
Update technical drawings and engineering documentation while providing oversight for JTA production work at KCNSC and PX, as well as creating and managing technical work procedures
Collaborate closely with a dedicated team of technologist and engineers at KCNSC, PX, and SNL to deliver quality products in support of the B61 JTA mission
Interface with NNSA and production agencies to manage hardware logistics for B61 JTAs and stockpile activities at PX
Manage OTAs and related paperwork for the movement of B61 JTA/6D assets
Apply analysis and problem-solving techniques to production, stockpile evaluation, and maintenance activities
Oversee and coordinate the disposition of units in 867 corporate storage
Qualification
Required
Associate degree in relevant field or equivalent education and experience
Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite
Experience in Hardware Lifecycle Management, such as:
Receiving and verifying hardware deliveries
Managing inventory and tracking asset conditions
Implementing checkout procedures for hardware allocation
Organizing and storing hardware assets effectively
Performing maintenance and troubleshooting tasks
Active DOE Q clearance or equivalent to start
Preferred
Two or more years of related NW systems experience
Experience managing records in the ARAS Hams system
Familiarity with project management principles and tools
Experience managing planned activity schedules for laboratory space
Experience with shipping logistics, including classified shipping, explosive safety, and multi-site operations
Experience with nuclear weapon components, safety, use control, and surveillance
Demonstrated ability to work on complex problems in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment, requiring cross-organizational and multi-disciplinary teamwork
Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to convey information clearly, concisely, and effectively in both oral and written formats
Experience interacting with external customers and stakeholders
Current P-card holder or willingness to obtain one
