Data Analyst (Media/Entertainment Industry)

They are looking for a data-driven, creative, and highly analytical Data Analyst to join their embedded Business Operations team at an ecommerce client, responsible for analyzing live-streaming content performance and providing insights for content investment strategy.

Responsibilities

Insight Generation: Analyze large-scale datasets to identify trends in viewer engagement, product conversion, and talent performance across 1P, 3P, and FAST channels
Business Reporting: Lead the weekly and monthly business review (WBR/MBR) reporting process, surfacing "the story behind the numbers" to explain variances in performance
Experimental Design: Partner with Marketing and Product teams to design A/B tests for live-stream features and promotional strategies, measuring impact on customer acquisition and retention
Strategic Deep Dives: Execute ad-hoc analyses on complex business problems, such as the impact of high-profile talent on "halo" sales or the optimal duration for live-stream segments
Data Integrity: Audit data quality and work with the Engineering team to resolve upstream data gaps, ensuring a "single source of truth" for the Business Operations org

Required

Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field
3+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or a similar role (experience in media, e-commerce, or tech preferred)
Advanced SQL proficiency: Ability to write complex joins and window functions to extract data from massive distributed databases (Redshift, S3)
Statistical Foundation: Strong understanding of statistical concepts (e.g., hypothesis testing, regressions, probability) and their application to business problems

Preferred

Analytical Storytelling: Exceptional ability to communicate complex findings to non-technical audiences through written documents
Technical Versatility: Proficiency in Python or R for data manipulation and automated reporting
Industry Context: Deep interest in the creator economy, live-streaming, or the intersection of entertainment and commerce
Ownership: A self-starter who can navigate ambiguity and identify opportunities for analysis without being prompted
Experience with AWS services (Glue, Athena, Redshift) is a plus
