Fleet Services Technician I/II - Extra Help

Responsibilities

Inspect, service, lubricate, clean and fuel County motor pool vehicles
Schedule and dispatch motor pool vehicles and maintain records
Maintain parts inventory
Repair, maintain, and fabricate work as assigned
Perform preventive maintenance work on the County's automotive fleet
Inspect, add and/or change fluid levels in brake, steering, and other systems
Inspect vehicles for operating condition and safety problems
Coordinate mandatory safety inspections
Troubleshoot and complete minor repairs, and report problems to mechanics
Change fuel, oil, and air filters
Change engine, transmission, coolant and other fluids
Inspect and replace belts, hoses, bulbs, wipers and other parts
Test, add fluids, replace and/or change batteries, starters, and alternators
Troubleshoot and repair electrical problems
Inspect and adjust brakes
Remove, repair, and replace tires and wheels
Repack wheel bearings
Document service requests and problems
Schedule vehicles for service
Contact and arrange for vendor services
Resolve vehicle problems with vendors, and mechanics regarding cost and time frames
Maintain current vehicle recalls
Order, receive, price, store, and maintain an inventory of parts, supplies, and accessories for both shop and office
Track availability, cost, and delivery times
Prepare and maintain various records such as vehicle usage, mileage, service, and repairs and billings

Required

Two years of experience in automotive servicing and repair for Fleet Services Technician I
Two years of experience in automotive servicing and repair for Fleet Services Technician II
One year of experience at a level equivalent to the County's class of Fleet Service Technician I or completion of a recognized apprenticeship in the vehicle repair trade
Must possess a valid driver's license
Must regularly lift and carry objects weighing up to sixty pounds
