Responsibilities
Leads electrical engineering design on multiple projects of various complexity including data collection and information gathering to support design decisions
Conducts interpretations of drawings, codes, and other similar materials
Performs calculations to analyze and design individual building electrical system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software including lighting photometrics and power systems studies
Leads the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents
Works with architectural, interior, and other engineering disciplines in the coordination of the project
Assists with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing and schedule
Performs field work such as field investigation, and construction site observations
Leads project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors
Performs other duties as assigned by the Project Manager, Team Leader and/or Principal-in-Charge
Serves as a trainer, mentor, and resource to others
Assists in the development of new standards and specifications for the electrical group
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering is required
Ability to integrate design elements with other disciplines
Strong knowledge of applicable building codes and standards
Deep understanding and knowledge of power distribution systems and lighting systems for the built environment
Strong knowledge of higher education, K-12, science & technology, commercial workplace and/or industrial market sectors
Ability to apply sustainable design principles within projects
Strong team and client communication and interpersonal skills
Functional knowledge of recent versions of Revit
Working knowledge of AGI 32 (or equivalent), load analysis software SKM (or equivalent), Microsoft Office, Newforma Project Center (or equivalent) and Bluebeam
5+ years design experience in electrical design for buildings
Professional Engineer Licensure – ability to become licensed in Texas is required, existing licensure in TX is preferred
Preferred
Licensed Professional Engineer is preferred
Experience in one or more of the following sectors is preferred: Higher Education, K-12, Commercial, Workplace, Science & Technology
Eligible for US Government Security clearance is a plus
