Electrical Engineer III
Utah State University is a premier land-grant university dedicated to advancing knowledge and serving the public good. They are seeking an Electrical Engineer III, a mid- to senior-level role responsible for the design, analysis, and validation of advanced high-power, high-voltage power-electronics systems, including troubleshooting and supporting integration with various systems.
Education
Responsibilities
Design and analyze electrical circuits and subsystems
Develop and review schematics, layouts, and technical documentation
Support PCB design, bring-up, testing, and validation
Troubleshoot electrical and system-level issues
Support integration with power electronics, embedded, and mechanical systems
Contribute to technical reports, proposals, and sponsor deliverables
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field
4-7+ years of electrical engineering experience
Preferred
Strongly Preferred: knowledge with software packages MATLAB SimuLink, LTSpice, PLECS, and ANSYS
Master's Degree preferred
PE Certification
Recognized advanced credentials in electrical or power systems engineering
EMI/EMC knowledge and design considerations
Controls for power electronics is desired (digital, current and voltage modes, frequency modulation, micro-controllers and FPGA)
Experience with conventional magnetics (inductors, transformers)
Advantage to have experience with solid state transformer technology or wireless power transfer systems
