Studio Manager

Access Gallery Colorado is a nonprofit organization that provides creative, economic, and educational opportunities for people with disabilities. The Studio Manager plays a key role in supporting artists with disabilities by maintaining a safe and organized studio environment, coordinating materials and schedules, and collaborating closely with artists and staff.

Responsibilities

Support artists with disabilities in the studio in ways that respect autonomy, communication preferences, and individual access needs
Collaborate with artists to adapt tools, processes, or workflows as needed
Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and professional studio culture
Oversee day-to-day operations of the art studio, including opening/closing procedures, studio schedules, and space usage
Manage the studio staff
Maintain studio organization, cleanliness, and accessibility
Order, prepare, and inventory art supplies and equipment
Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools, materials, and adaptive equipment
Help set expectations for the community to provide a safe and supportive creative environment and facilitates educational opportunities for everyone to practice
Supervise and support studio staff, teaching artists, interns, and/or volunteers
Provide onboarding, training, and ongoing feedback to studio staff
Foster a positive, inclusive, and accountable team culture grounded in the organization’s mission and values
Assist with the coordination of staff coverage for classes, open studio hours, and special events
Participate in hiring processes and performance evaluations as assigned
Support classes, workshops, and open studio sessions in collaboration with teaching artists, program staff, and volunteers
Manage project timelines, group projects, and individual records for studio artists including documentation of artwork and tracking progress of individual goals
Assist with exhibition preparation, artwork handling, and installation as needed
Track attendance, studio usage, and basic program data

Required

2+ years experience managing staff in an art studio, community arts, education, or nonprofit setting
Demonstrated commitment to disability inclusion, equity, and accessibility
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to balance people management with hands-on studio work
Ability to perform physical studio tasks (with or without reasonable accommodations)
Top-notch organizational skills that reflect ability to independently perform and prioritize multiple tasks with excellent attention to detail
Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability
Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response

Preferred

Experience working with artists with disabilities
Knowledge of adaptive art tools or accessible studio practices
Background in fine arts, art education, arts administration, or nonprofit management
Experience leading collaborative projects
Experience with Google Workspace and Adobe Creative Suite
