Responsibilities
Support and ensure 24/7 reliability and availability of mainframe applications and systems
Act as a senior point of contact for production support and major incidents
Monitor system health, performance, and capacity
Perform incident management, root cause analysis (RCA), and post-incident reviews
Automate manual operational tasks to improve stability and recovery time
Work with API/Web API integrations supporting mainframe applications
Coordinate with development and infrastructure teams to improve system reliability
Support disaster recovery (DR) planning, testing, and high availability
Ensure compliance with security, audit, and regulatory requirements
Drive continuous improvement and SRE best practices in mainframe operations
Qualification
Required
10+ years of experience in Mainframe Application Support / Operations
Strong hands-on experience with IBM z/OS
Experience with mainframe technologies: CICS, IMS, DB2, JES2/JES3, MQ, SMF, SDSF
Experience supporting APIs / Web APIs integrated with mainframe systems
Strong background in production support and incident management
Experience with performance tuning and capacity planning
Automation/scripting experience: REXX, JCL, CLIST, Python, or similar
Experience with monitoring and scheduling tools: OMEGAMON, CA/BMC tools, Control-M
Preferred
Experience applying SRE practices in mainframe or hybrid environments
Exposure to DevOps and automation frameworks
Knowledge of Linux on Z or cloud integration
Prior technical lead or team lead experience
