Aerospace Manufacturing Engineer / Estimator
Pressco Products is a manufacturing and machining company that produces quality machined parts for the aerospace & defense industries. They are seeking a detail-oriented Engineer/Planner with strong estimating experience to bridge customer requirements and production, ensuring that parts are manufactured according to specifications and delivered on time and within budget.
Responsibilities
Cost Estimating: Work with the estimating team present accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, and overhead for new quotes and contract renewals. Research and reach out to vendors. Follow up and work with Customers as needed
Print & Drawings: Review and Analyze complex customer-supplied 2D blueprints and 3D models (GD&T) to determine manufacturing feasibility and technical requirements, for planning and estimating
Manufacturing Planning: Develop comprehensive "routers" or work instructions from start to finish, including machining steps, outside processing (heat treat, plating), packaging, and final inspection. Build and maintain detailed BOM (Bill of Materials) and new part attributes in our ERP system
Resource Planning: Determine raw material requirements, specialized tooling needs, and calculate machine time for CNC mills, lathes, or other equipment
Disposition non-conformance repair and rework activities: Investigate root causes, initiate preventative and corrective actions alongside the Quality department
New Part Development (NPI): Participate in the development and prototyping phase of customer-designed new parts, providing feedback on "design for manufacturability" (DFM)
Continuous Improvement: Monitor "estimated vs. actual" production times and adjust plans to improve shop efficiency and margin
Lead manufacturing change board meetings : evaluate, process engineering changes, and work with the team to assess manufacturing impacts
Support manufacturing floor/teams: in compliance, engineering requirements, discrepancy resolution, and component acceptance testing
Qualification
Required
5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, planning, or estimating (Aerospace industry preferred)
Proficiency in reading blueprints and understanding GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
Highly knowledgeable of aerospace grade materials (Aluminum, Stainless, Titanium, Nickel alloys, Inconel, etc.)
Highly knowledgeable of outside processes and finishes (heat treat, plating, chemical coatings, topcoat applications, etc.)
Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering. Equivalent work experience in manufacturing engineering and production may be considered in lieu of a degree
Ability to collaborate effectively with customers, shop floor machinists, and management
Preferred
Experience with CAD/CAM software (Discus, Enovia, CATIA, Mastercam)
Knowledge of AS9100 quality standards
Background in small-batch or high-precision component manufacturing
Ability to multitask and change gears quickly, working in a fast-paced environment
High attention to detail, accuracy, and critical thinking
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with active listening. Must be fluent in English
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Excellent attendance and time management
Standing, sitting, and bending for extended periods in a machine shop/office environment
