Program Specialist Team Leader

Responsibilities

Provide statewide support across the Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention and Diabetes programs
Assist in guiding program strategy, aligning activities with state and federal public health priorities, and supporting the effective implementation of federally funded initiatives
Demonstrate strong communication and relationship-building skills for collaborating with federal partners, healthcare systems, community-based organizations, and internal MSDH teams
Support strategic direction for chronic disease initiatives; assist with oversight of staff, contractors, and partner organizations; coordinate cross-sector partnerships with healthcare systems, community-based organizations, and state and local agencies; support accurate data collection, evaluation, and submission of all required deliverables

Required

Strong leadership and coordination skills to provide statewide support across the Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention and Diabetes programs
Ability to assist in guiding program strategy, aligning activities with state and federal public health priorities
Strong communication and relationship-building skills for collaborating with federal partners, healthcare systems, community-based organizations, and internal MSDH teams
Solid understanding of chronic disease prevention and management, including the integration of cardiovascular and diabetes initiatives
Ability to use data and evaluation findings to inform program improvement
Strong organizational and project management skills
Adaptability to evolving public health needs
Ability to support staff, strengthen cross-program coordination, and foster a collaborative, high-performing work environment statewide

Preferred

Typically requires a bachelor's degree and 5-7 years of experience
Experience in grant and fiscal management, including supporting compliance with federal requirements, monitoring budgets, and assisting with performance reporting
