Controls & Test Engineering Technician

The Controls & Test Engineering Technician will play a key role in the startup of a new manufacturing facility, focusing on commissioning equipment, troubleshooting, and leading continuous improvement projects.

Responsibilities

Commission and validate functional test equipment, PLC controlled stations, and supporting instrumentation as new lines come online; debug issues end to end (electrical, software, fixtures, sensors, I/O)
Partner with Controls and Test Engineering to install, bring up, and optimize equipment for start up readiness; document changes and results
Train operators and technical staff on safe operation, basic troubleshooting, and escalation paths
Respond on the floor to equipment/test failures; perform root cause analysis, contain issues, and restore operation quickly
Execute minor PLC/HMI adjustments under engineering guidance; maintain configurations, backups, and change logs
Monitor test station performance, yields, and false fail rates; surface trends and propose countermeasures
Implement hardware/software improvements that enhance safety, throughput, test coverage, and reliability (e.g., sensor upgrades, fixture refinements, vision checks)
Develop and refine PM, calibration, and verification procedures; keep stations audit ready with clear documentation and labeling
Collaborate with cross functional partners on line layout, error proofing, and standardized work improvements

Required

Hands-on experience in commissioning and validating functional test equipment, PLC controlled stations, and supporting instrumentation

Experience in training operators and technical staff on safe operation, basic troubleshooting, and escalation paths
Ability to respond on the floor to equipment/test failures and perform root cause analysis
Experience in executing minor PLC/HMI adjustments under engineering guidance
Ability to monitor test station performance, yields, and false fail rates
Experience in implementing hardware/software improvements that enhance safety, throughput, test coverage, and reliability
