Intern, R&D Undergraduate Summer - Design Engineering Mechnical Design, Onsite
Sandia National Laboratories is the nation’s premier science and engineering lab for national security and technology innovation, with teams of specialists focused on cutting-edge work in a broad array of areas. They are seeking a Summer Associate Degree Student Intern specializing in Mechanical Design/Engineering to create and modify mechanical models and drawings, while learning about product definition requirements and working closely with a staff mentor.

Responsibilities
Create & modify mechanical models & drawings using CAD software, while incorporating GD&T-based tolerancing schemes to describe the engineering intent of the parts/assemblies
Learn appropriate part-defining definition methods
Increase understanding of product definition requirements
Update models and drawings per engineering change orders
Other projects as assigned by a staff mentor
Qualification
Required
Currently attending and enrolled full time in the spring term immediately preceding the internship (or scheduled to graduate in the spring) in an accredited undergraduate program
Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer
U.S. citizens, legal permanent residents, asylees or refugees in the U.S
Preferred
Pursuing an AS or AAS in Drafting, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field
Experience using solid modeling application software
Experience with mechanical design
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Proven record of demonstrating initiative and achieving results
Strong oral and written communication skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products
