Core Research Technologist - Microscopy Core Facility
Penn State University is seeking a Core Research Technologist for their Microscopy Core Facility. The role involves sample preparation for microscopy, operating and maintaining various microscopes, and training customers in their use, while also ensuring general facility upkeep and organization.

Responsibilities
The individual will be tasked with sample preparation for microscopy and will be expected to operate, maintain, and train customers in the use of various microscopes, including, but not limited to, confocal, multi-photon, light sheet, and super-resolution optical microscopes
General facility upkeep, maintenance, and organization will be within the successful applicant's scope of responsibility
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree
3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted
Strong organizational skills
Attention to detail
Ability to work both semi-independently and collaboratively with the Microscopy team
Good interpersonal skills
Ability to communicate clearly with team members and Microscopy leadership
Preferred
A Bachelor's level degree or experience in biological sciences or microscopic imaging is desirable (biochemistry, microbiology, biological or biochemical engineering, and other related degrees)
Previous experience with advanced microscopy, especially high-end optical microscopy (e.g., confocal and super-resolution microscopy), and sample preparation is highly preferred
Experience and knowledge in the imaging process and analysis are a plus
