Responsibilities
Guide IT staff and the daily operations of the IT department
Oversee the zoo’s IT Help Desk, computer networks, and infrastructure working to optimize the organization’s technology systems
Analyze current systems and assets for optimal performance
Plan for and maintain IT infrastructure
Manage and respond to IT Help Desk tickets
Purchase hardware, software, and services and complete monthly expense reports
Troubleshoot issues with computer networks and systems
Install and configure network switches and firewalls
Maintain effective security measures
Provide end-user training throughout John Ball Zoo on software and hardware
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
Affinity for the mission and values of John Ball Zoo
Understanding of professional project management principles
A willingness to lead and manage small to mid-sized technical projects
Knowledge of IT ticket systems, credit card processing, and point of sale equipment
Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Windows 11, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Cisco or Ubiquiti Networking, Microsoft SQL Server, VMWare, Google Workspace: or similar software packages
Ability to work in a team environment and to interact and collaborate with people of diverse backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism
Willingness to flex work hours periodically throughout the year
Ability to work some early morning, evening and/or weekend hours, as required
