The Program Manager I will provide administrative support for the Firefighters’ Cancer Insurance Program, manage program operations, and ensure timely benefits for eligible firefighters and their families.

Responsibilities

Provide administrative support for the North Carolina Firefighters’ Cancer Insurance Program within the Office of State Fire Marshal
Assist with processing claims and verifying documentation to ensure eligible firefighters and their families receive timely and accurate benefits as provided under state law
Manage the program operations by maintaining accurate records, preparing correspondence, and assisting with the implementation of procedures in accordance with statutory requirements
Oversee contact with fire departments, firefighters, and other stakeholders to provide clear and courteous communication regarding program information and status updates
Assist with tracking program metrics and compiling data reports to support program evaluation and continuous improvement, contributing to the effective delivery of benefits and the well-being of North Carolina’s firefighters and their families

Required

Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of program experience related to the area of assignment, including one year of supervisory program experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of public and business administration
Considerable knowledge of human resources, purchasing, budget and accounting practices and procedures as related to the program area of assignment
Skill in program analysis and evaluation
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, other State officials and the general public
