Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for an Engineering Supervisor - Controls & Automation. This position is accountable for providing leadership, technical direction and policy administration for engineering activities related to Controls and Automation.

Responsibilities

Provide supervision and leadership for engineering excellence in the Controls and Automation group.  Provide leadership and be available for abnormal system conditions such as storms, system outages, etc
Supervise the Controls and Automation engineering team and apply all Human Resource policies and procedures
Advanced understanding and utilization of the SAP tool and the associated EBS processes. Develop knowledge and provide guidance/training to team members for new technologies such as the new document management system and the Bluebeam software tool
Establish and maintain excellent working relations with the other areas of Operations, other internal staff of NPPD, along with external customers of NPPD. Support NERC compliance and regulatory issues as required
Recruit, develop and coach employees in technical, customer service and work management areas
Develop team budget and requirements to assist with the departmental budgets. Create, monitor and maintain appropriate performance goals and measurements for the team to determine if goals are being met efficiently
Assist in developing and maintaining engineering standards for the team to ensure the consistency of projects that are being created

Required

Bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering is required
Five to seven years in transmission operations, engineering or general utility operations is required
Nebraska Registered Professional Electrical Engineer is required

Preferred

Three years of supervisory experience is preferred
Demonstrated leadership and design skills in previous work experiences are preferred
