Responsibilities

Ensure that all HPSI safety procedures, rules and regulations are communicated, understood, and followed
Assist in reviewing basic and functional naval architecture design documents and delivery documentation from engineering design partners, including weight estimates, stability analyses, model testing results, and technical deliverables
Provide technical support to production activities in preparation for vessel launch, deadweight surveys, inclining experiments, and sea trials
Participate in onboard activities such as deadweight surveys and as-built ship inspections to support weight tracking and completion estimates
Support the development of ballasting plans and test procedures for inclining experiments, deadweight testing, and sea trials
Collaborate with Testing & Commissioning, Production, and Engineering teams to support vessel readiness and align technical plans with construction schedules
Perform other related duties as required and assigned

Required

Naval Architecture Knowledge: Basic understanding of ship design, stability, weight tracking, and hull form principles
Technical Documentation: Ability to review and assist in preparing design documents, testing plans, and delivery paperwork
Testing & Field Support: Exposure to inclining experiments, deadweight surveys, sea trials, and onboard inspections
Safety & Compliance: Awareness of shipyard safety procedures and classification society requirements
Communication & Teamwork: Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to collaborate with engineers, production teams, and external partners
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to review technical data, track issues, and support solutions across multiple disciplines
Organization & Coordination: Ability to assist with planning and coordinating tasks, meetings, and project documentation
Adaptability & Learning Mindset: Willingness to learn, participate in hands-on activities, and flex responsibilities based on project needs
Rising sophomores, juniors, or seniors pursuing degrees in Naval Architecture
Minimum GPA: 3.0
S. work authorization required — no sponsorship available

Preferred

Coursework or practical experience in ship design, stability, hydrostatics, and marine systems is preferred
Exposure to engineering software such as AutoCAD, Navisworks, or other relevant design tools is a plus
Familiarity with project documentation, testing plans, and shipyard operations is desirable
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, hands-on learning environment
