They are seeking a Network Operations Watch Technician (Swing Shift) to monitor and communicate the operational status of systems, create incident tickets, and improve monitoring capabilities.

Responsibilities

Know the Air Force District of Washington classified and unclassified environment and determine if systems/services are offline or degraded
Communicate the operational status with the Ops Watch team, customers, and Major Incident Response (MIR)
Create incident tickets based on alerts from monitoring tools such as SCOM and SolarWinds
Track the status of down nodes and services
Understand how monitoring tools work and their limitations
Work to improve monitoring capabilities through feedback to the Enterprise Monitoring Team who maintains the toolset
Actively participate in troubleshooting outages in support of MIR
Report what you see and assist in any other way possible
Take this time to recognize the limitations of our monitoring tools and identify those limitations as requirements to EMT afterward and in the After-Action Reports

Active IAT II certificationBMC Remedy Ticketing SystemNetwork monitoring toolsAir Force environment knowledgeNetwork equipment understandingSystem Administration experienceBriefing skillsOral communication skills

Required

Active DoD Secret clearance
Active IAT II certification
Experience with BMC Remedy Ticketing System
Experience using network monitoring tools
Knowledge of Air Force environment and protocols
A solid understanding of Network equipment, their capabilities, and architecture
3-5 years of System Administration experience
Excellent briefing and oral communication skills
