Underwriting Assistant

Responsibilities

Accurately and efficiently process policy endorsements, cancellations, and renewals within the policy administration systems
Maintain meticulous records and ensure all supporting documentation and necessary underwriter approvals are obtained and filed correctly, adhering to regulatory and internal standards
Serve as a primary point of contact for general questions from underwriters and brokers, effectively communicating information and resolving issues promptly
Demonstrate a deep understanding of the insurance policy lifecycle, including the accurate and timely issuance of legal notices of cancellation and reinstatement documentation
Actively leverage technology, including internal policy management platforms and automation tools to streamline workflows and improve efficiency
Participate in testing new digital experiences and system updates, providing valuable feedback to ensure platforms are performing as expected
Identify creative solutions to improve operational efficiency and consistency across underwriting processes

Required

Minimum of 3-5 years of commercial insurance experience, specifically within underwriting support, underwriting assistant, or relevant operations role
In-depth knowledge of Casualty/General Liability (GL) lines of business, including an understanding of coverage types
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint) and a willingness to quickly learn new insurance-specific software and digital platforms
Must be detail-oriented, highly organized, and possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen sense of urgency to meet deadlines
