Responsibilities
Promote and maintain a safe working environment by adhering to and enforcing safety, health, and environmental (HSE) standards
Participate in safety audits, job safety analyses (JSAs), hazard reviews, and risk assessments
Ensure safe design, installation, and operation of manufacturing equipment
Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by site and task
Serve as the equipment and process subject matter expert for assigned manufacturing areas
Ensure equipment remains in a qualified state and is capable of meeting operational and customer requirements
Maintain and improve process documentation, including:
Equipment flow diagrams and process flow documents
Critical process parameters
Control strategies and operating standards
Lead and support troubleshooting efforts for complex equipment and process issues, including multi-line or system-wide failures
Apply structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., Root Cause Analysis) to resolve recurring or high-impact issues
Monitor and trend process, equipment, and control data to optimize performance and reliability
Lead or support deviation investigations related to equipment and process performance and implement corrective actions
Ensure changes to equipment or processes are properly assessed, documented, and executed through appropriate change management systems
Support and lead qualification activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) for new, modified, or transferred equipment
Act as a user or technical representative on capital projects and equipment upgrades
Partner with maintenance and reliability teams to define and improve maintenance strategies
Identify, prioritize, and execute continuous improvement opportunities, including procedural updates, equipment upgrades, and process optimization initiatives
Collaborate with internal teams, client stakeholders, and vendors to share best practices and replicate improvements across sites where applicable
Mentor and coach Process Engineers and Automation Engineers, providing technical guidance and escalation support
Communicate effectively with operations, quality, engineering, maintenance, and leadership stakeholders
Lead or actively participate in cross-functional meetings related to process performance and improvement initiatives
Apply project management practices to improvement efforts, including scope definition, prioritization, execution, and status reporting
Balance multiple priorities while maintaining focus on safety, quality, and business impact
Escalate technical, safety, or quality risks appropriately and proactively
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or equivalent relevant experience)
Strong interpersonal and communication skills in a team-based, client-facing environment
Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach engineers and technical staff
Experience working with manufacturing equipment and processes in regulated or high-reliability environments
Proficiency with common engineering and data tools (e.g., Excel, data trending/visualization tools)
Strong commitment to safety and quality standards
Preferred
Prior experience as a Process Engineer or Lead Process Engineer
Experience in pharmaceutical, medical device, biotech, or other regulated manufacturing industries
Experience supporting equipment qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ)
Project management experience, particularly in capital projects or continuous improvement initiatives
