Facility Services Technician I-II

Responsibilities
Responds to emergency and non-emergency repair calls regarding HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, structural, locks, automatic gates, and overhead doors; participates in repair and maintenance duties
Work with contractors as needed
Assist others on assigned tasks
Assist with maintaining inventory and purchases building maintenance supplies
Attends safety and OSHA compliance meetings; attends training sessions as required
Installs and makes repairs to HVAC, plumbing and electrical apparatuses
Performs small commercial construction activities
Performs custodial duties as needed
Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualification
Required
Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one year
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
May be required to work nights and weekends
This position will serve a rotational call for emergency response
Basic knowledge of the standards, materials, techniques and equipment used in the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC equipment
Basic knowledge of plumbing and electrical standards, materials, techniques, and equipment
Basic knowledge of the standards, materials, techniques, and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of municipal buildings
Knowledge of department and city policies and procedures and relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations
Skill in the operation of specialized maintenance equipment
Skill in oral and written communication
Sufficient experience to understand the more advanced principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with having had a similar position for five years or more
Minimum of 5 years related experience
Above average knowledge of the standards, materials, techniques and equipment used in the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC equipment
Above average knowledge of plumbing and electrical standards, materials, techniques, and equipment
Above average knowledge of the standards, materials, techniques, and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of municipal buildings
Above average skill in oral and written communication with the ability to work well with others communicating directions, information, guidance, and feedback
