Responsibilities
Act as the design engineer for Large Mining Trucks’ (LMT) steering arms, linkages, front/rear axles, and heavy fabrications
Lead on-site factory design/development efforts for new product introduction and design for manufacturing projects
Provide factory and supplier collaboration support for heavy fabrications
Support Build-in-Quality (BIQ) deployment and Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) for LMT heavy fabs at the Decatur Facility
Review and understand customer/peer requests, technical requirements, and project needs
Participate in design and manufacturing meetings
Perform 3D modeling, basic FEA, and develop design concepts in collaboration with Lead Designers and Tech Leaders
Create and review drawings, providing mark-ups for corrections
Direct programmers/analysts on database changes and approve database development projects
Implement security measures for computer systems and develop software standards/guidelines
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Agricultural, or Civil Engineering
3D modeling proficiency (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks)
Welding processes basic knowledge
Basic manufacturing processes of metallic parts (burn to shape, forming, stamping)
Metal Casting design and manufacturing basic knowledge
Strong knowledge of computer development software across multiple platforms
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong problem-solving skills
Strong ability to work independently and manage one's time
Customer service and interpersonal skills
Ability to receive/provide feedback and coaching
Engineering curiosity
Preferred
Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience (Creo Simulate, Ansys, Nastran, or similar)
Tool design knowledge
Machining process knowledge
