They are seeking a skilled Database Administrator to ensure the stability, security, and optimal performance of their core database systems, particularly in a cloud-based infrastructure with a focus on Microsoft Azure and data analytics.

Information Technology & Services

Responsibilities

Manage and support Azure analytics infrastructure, including Synapse pipelines and related components
Promote changes in Azure DevOps to the production Synapse environment, ensuring seamless deployment
Coordinate with infrastructure teams to deliver reliable data solutions and support business demand
Build and design Azure infrastructure to optimize performance and scalability
Troubleshoot data issues within the Enterprise BI platform, including Azure Synapse and Power BI
Ensure all database servers are backed up according to business RPO requirements and regularly test backups to meet RTO objectives
Respond to and resolve SQL Server service outages promptly, including after-hours and weekends as needed
Configure monitoring utilities to proactively identify and resolve server health and performance issues
Install, configure, and upgrade SQL Servers, ensuring optimal configuration and security
Deploy database change scripts from third-party vendors or internal teams post-approval
Optimize database performance through server configuration, indexing, and query tuning
Document the database environment thoroughly, including architecture, configurations, and procedures
Manage database capacity, storage, and monitor growth to prevent performance bottlenecks
Monitor and resolve locking, blocking, and concurrency issues to maintain database integrity and performance
Implement and manage database security protocols in compliance with organizational policies

Required

At least 3-7 years of relevant experience in database administration
Proven troubleshooting skills in a production environment
Experience with SQL Server, DMV queries, and performance tuning
Expertise in designing database schemas, normalization, indexing strategies, and disaster recovery planning
Strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts and tools
Experience in managing database security and capacity planning
Ability to diagnose and resolve server performance issues using advanced tools like Extended Events, SQL Profiler, and Data Collection

Preferred

Familiarity with Azure Synapse, data modeling, ETL processes, and backup strategies
Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Certified MySQL Database Administrator, or MongoDB Certified DBA
